Camo isn’t just for hunting anymore! I am currently obsessing over all and everything camo. For a day out strolling along the High Line in the West Village I decided to pull out my camo pants from Guess. They are spot on because the pants themselves are a lighter hunter green and the print is so subtle and blends perfectly. I also die over the gold ankle zipper which perfectly matches the gold studs on my Valentino rockstud flats. I decided to throw on one of my favorite white silk blouses from Equipment ( I have one in almost every color). They are so light and easy to throw on with any pair of pants or skirt! A good white blouse is a major wardrobe essential and they can easily pull together just about any outfit. Because it was going to be a little chillier on the water I pulled on my TSE Cashmere sweater over my blouse and it still looks just as good! To complete my outfit I wore a pair of Celine sunglasses that I purchased at one of my favorite stores Jeffrey Atlanta New York (which is located right underneath the High Line, of course I popped in afterwards). I grabbed my leather Hunter tote and was ready to take on the day!
Today is a very special day in that we are celebrating the birth of one of my all-time favorite shoe designers Mr. Christian Louboutin! Louboutin brought stilettos back into high fashion during the 1990s, designing shoes with a variety of heel heights and styles. Who else but Christian Louboutin could design such a variety of shoes from the classic black pumps to edgy, over the top shoes adorned with crystals and spikes. It is impossible to miss spotting a red bottom while strolling through high-end department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks, Barneys, or Bergdorfs. He has truly set the bar in the world of shoe design. Lets give a huge Hallelujah and Happy Birthday to the man who has forever changed the world of shoes! Here are some personal favorites of his creations!
Yes, they are!!! Feeling a bit like Kate and Wills might be following in my footsteps while heading to The Carlyle this weekend! It was there that I did a photo shoot for today’s blog post. I think my wardrobe choice is spot on and perhaps Kate might agree! This vintage Chanel suit is a classic in pastel colors including mint green, pink, and yellow. The jacket has ¾ sleeves and is adorned with brass buttons that are decorated with the Chanel logo and cherubs. The jacket has removable silk cuffs in mint green and pockets detailing on the sides. The simple skirt has a double button closure at the waistband and is an elegant wrap style. This is truly my dream Chanel suit. It is youthful both in style and color. These suits are not just for the more mature Grande Dames of the Upper East Side! As a side note, several passed as we were shooting and stopped to chat. They had great appreciation for my OOTD! (Certainly not using the acronym!) Having a little fun, not wanting to wear a fascinator (I am certain I could not pull that one off), I found the perfect headband at Zitomer on Madison Ave. It is possibly the best pharmacy in the land and across the pond! This perfect, pink headband with a large side bow is just the look I wanted. It is dressier than a headband and not as dramatic as a fascinator! I will leave that one to Her Majesty. I carried a vintage, oversized, crocodile, fold-over clutch in dark green and chose a pair of classic nude pumps. In Honor of The Royals visit, I hope you enjoy today’s post!! XO, B
The #OOTD for the post is one that is perfect for chillier weather! I combined two very current style trends and created an outfit that I love. The two trends are vests and the White Blouse, very popular at NYFW this year. You can’t go wrong with a simple white blouse. It dresses up any outfit and is a crisp, clean look. I paired mine with this heavy duty, super cool grey vest. It is thick and warm, the long look is tres-chic and it is so simple yet packs a powerful punch. The creative details such as the high neck closure (which can be done or left undone- equally great) and the simple single button closure at the waist are all this piece needs. I am a big fan of the equally simplistic, yet elegant, Kisselstein Cord black handbag with gold hardware, including the adorable labrador front and center. I wore black suede over the knee boots with black leggings and popped on a beautiful, chunky turquoise bracelet for color. In my hair I wore a crystal headband from Henri Bendel, a gift from a special friend that I adore. I hope this outfit calls to you as it does to me!! xo B
Milly is a designer that I have adored for a very long time. I typically would go to a rack or pick out a dress in a magazine and more times than not, it was Milly. Imagine my surprise when I walked over to the rack (actually, I ran- not gonna lie) and pulled out this suit only to find it was Milly too. I am the last person you’d find choosing to wear a matched suit, but this is a real gem and very versatile. It is not stuffy at all yet can be worn for business or pleasure. The crisp navy and cream bold check is so inviting and the not too serious style makes it perfect. I love the big navy buttons that close the double breasted suit jacket and the cuffed hem on the shorts are a playful detail. This suit can be worn with a t-shirt or a silk blouse underneath. I went with an alternate choice that worked just as well as either of the first two options…..no shirt. This is a great transitional ensemble and I’m thinking it could even be worn with my navy suede over the knee boots, think Pretty Woman:) I love that movie!! I chose a sophisticated low navy pump with a bow as I was working in the city all day and wanted my feet to survive. Shoe options are limitless with this suit. This one of those go to pieces that will work for a number of occasions. It might be the jacket that you need, maybe the shorts or the pulled together look of a suit, no matter what, this will be called upon. xo B
Elegance is a question of one’s personality more than one’s clothing.
….and I don’t mean Blair Waldorf! Admittedly, I am a HUGE Gossip Girl Fan! Didn’t miss an episode. If you haven’t watched it, please do!! When the opportunity arose to do a shoot at The Met, I knew the theme had to be Serena like. It needs little explanation and I will tell you this is one of my favorite looks of all time. I paired this Pink floral Ted Baker skirt with an Alice and Olivia simple black cashmere sweater with detachable white collar and cuffs. Black pumps and a little jewelry and we were set to shoot. Fascinating fact, you are not allowed to sit on the steps at The Met!! What?!? I could not wait for the guard who kept telling me to, “keep moving”, to move himself or look away so I could plop down and get just one shot as was seen in so many episodes. More than determined, I got it. This classic outfit just looks so polished, so feminine and easily transitions into fall. I only wish I could get away with wearing it to class, because I totally would. I Know You Love Me, XOXO (actually, I hope you do !)
As Sara Bareilles song tells us, we can do anything with a little black dress on.
This LBD in particular is really great. With its drop waist style, it flows and moves with you. I love a long sleeved mini dress and this one is great! The added detail of the white cuffs on each sleeves catches the eye and the simplicity of the dress allows you to accessorize as much or as little as you choose. For a day in the city, I chose some fun, leopard print flats with a beaded pompon on the toe. I carried a large unconstructed Chanel bag and wore a precious, silk, double banded headband with tiny bows on each section. The neckline is so simple and I wore my everyday diamond cross and nothing else. This is one of those perfect outfits that can take you from day to night and you can’t help but feel good in it. On this particular day, I was hanging out in Tribeca at the Tribeca Grand. I thoroughly enjoyed the art exhibited throughout the lobby by Peter Tunney. The surfer in me loved the surfboard art because, yes, it does take courage as so many things in life do. Including beginning a fashion blog. xo B!
Today’s post features one of the best style details out there. When the outfit looks as good when you approach to say, “Hello” as it does when you turn to say, “Goodbye”, you’ve got a winner! Such is the case with today’s Ted Baker romper. It caught my eye because of the bright orange color and flattering, simple style with the Jackie-O-esque collar. It is so feminine and easy (maybe even a little sexy?!). Rompers are where it’s at! The three-quarter length sleeves and color make it a perfect transitional piece from summer to fall. As far as I was concerned, it was a winner at first glance! But then…. I saw the back detailing and it was like falling in love all over again!! This is where you might even look better saying goodbye and walking away. Because of the low crossover detail, I had some fun and wore my necklace backwards down my back. It is a special piece that was given to me several months ago that reads, “Happiness”. When you wear the mantra daily, it serves as a constant reminder that, no matter what, there is always something to be happy about! With this rather simple and plain (yet, anything but boring!) outfit, I pulled out my Favorite shoes. These Louis Vuitton peep toes with double straps that close with big gold buttons on the sides are truly spectacular. I adore them and they work to perfection with this outfit. I carried a little Christian Dior canvas monogram bag and wore a collection of some of my Hermes H bracelets . So, You say Goodbye and I say Hello…. Hello, Hello because no matter, This looks great either way!!
Last night, I was in NYC to attend my first ever New York Fashion Week event, yes, little ole me!! While it was not Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino or Chanel (I will be there one day <3), this was a quaint show that took place at Stitch Bar and Lounge on 37th St. A newer designer was unveiling her line of little black dresses. It was a fun, intimate vibe and I was so happy to be invited!! For my NYFW debut, I chose to wear my new go to favorite- Torn by Ronny Kobo. I’ve said it before, the fabric, the prints, the look and the comfort level are all details that cannot be ignored. This American designer gets it and so do I! I chose this darling dress because while it is simple, the print is fun and young and the style is as well. Don’t be shocked; there are even little shoulder pads in this dress. I was like – what the heck????? My mom said…they used to be in everything, they must be coming back! No matter, they just gave the edge of the shoulder a little lift and I adore this dress! To accessorize, I wore my fabulous black and rhinestone Chanel cuff and Chanel crystal logo earrings and that was it. I carried the black Soho bag by Gucci. My shoes were a new find, my first pair of Alice and Olivia shoes. These are my new love. Drixa, these black, studded, strappy heels are really magnificent with a 3-button closure on the outside. Honestly, I love my shoes and the price point of these, while still expensive, they are not exorbitant, yet I felt like they were priceless (and really comfortable too!)!! I finished off the night with a quick pop in to Pinkberry and it was a success.
The one thing that every girl must own is the perfect black dress. One would think this would not be such a difficult task because there are a million to choose from. Well… for those who think that you could not be more wrong. It is nearly impossible to find the perfect one, so when I found this one at Club Monaco I thought that I had hit the jackpot. The best thing about one of these must have dresses is that you can so easily tie it in to any occasion. You can dress them up or down and every time you wear it, it can look different based upon the accessories that you have chosen. I love feminine girl clothing (as you may have noticed) so this dress is perfect for me. The oversize bow in the back adds an element of femininity to the otherwise simple dress. It can also be worn in just about any season because black is such a universal color. The polyester blended fabric is light and flowly, so it was perfect for this summer evening dinner at Nick and Toni’s. I added my black Louboutins dress up the look, along with a sterling silver cuff and pair of large pearl earrings. Dress: Club Monaco | Shoes: Christian Louboutin (Similar Here)
