This very special mini dress from Alexis serves as the centerpiece for today’s blog post. With the roller coaster temperatures of spring, it is the perfect staple. You can never go wrong with winter white and this dress is a perfect example of that! It is a standout piece that I chose to wear for my Easter celebrating. The long sleeves have the perfect detailed flare and thin bows tied at each wrist. It is ultra feminine and flattering with a straight loose style and contrasting black bow tied at the neck. I paired the dress with an over the knee black suede heeled boot. A black Chanel wallet on a chain featuring Chanel’s signature flower, the camellia was my bag of choice. This is a simple ensemble to put together, but looks like so much more. This is one of those outfits that can help boost your confidence and help you feel good even if you really aren’t!! Everyone has days like that. While this is the first time I am wearing this piece, I know it will be a popular, no brainier choice often. xo B
I know most people hate rainy days and I do too. Waking up in the morning when it is raining makes it a lot harder to get motivated to dress up. But since I am not a sweatpants, t-shirt kinda girl, I went for another easy casual look. I threw on my favorite pair of Paige Jeans. The zippers add a great detail and give the jeans a bit of a different and edgier look from your average pair. I threw on my cropped thermal shirt from free people because on days like this you want to be comfy, but not too hot. I also added my Hermes belt to pull together the outfit. Lastly I grabbed my Barbour rain coat as I was walking out the door. This jacket speaks for itself and really makes an outfit on its own. I wore my black rain boots with a hot pink monogram to add a little bit of color and fun. Hair is always difficult to maintain in bad weather, so I threw it up into a high pony tail. It takes a short amount of time and also looks great without putting in too much effort just to have it ruined later on! When you dress up it makes you feel better, so don’t let rainy days get you down! Try putting on a simple outfit, it will make all the difference!
This simple dress is everything! Lightweight, comfortable, feminine, flirty, fit and flare, you name it! It is such a versatile piece and can be worn with everything from sneakers to heels. It is also a perfect transition piece from summer to fall. Just add a dark denim jacket or a leather jacket, even a flannel tied at the waist when the temperatures begin to drop. You will get great mileage from a piece like this. The Peter Pan collar and self-belt are two special details that add to the charm of this dress. It is a great length and the full skirt allows for easy movement. So, no matter what your plan for the day, the dress is sure to cooperate and catch a few second glances! Fun fact: Chambray dresses come in many styles and prices. Mine was purchased online after I saw it on Access Hollywood’s Steals and Deals type segment. It was quite a bargain and I absolutely love it. It has a schoolgirl vibe and is sure to be a favorite in your closet. Enjoy! Xo B
This look is definitely easy!! I found this simple summer dress when I was not looking for it. It was one of those pieces that I knew I had to have because I could imagine numerous places and occasions where it would be perfect. The loose, flowing design is ultra feminine and the crochet detailing at the neck and shoulders adds a bit of interest. The light blue/grey color is great at the beach or on the town. For the beach, barefoot is a great look. Out and about, this dress calls for a simple thong sandal or could even be paired with a metallic gladiator. I actually have that look packed for my imminent trip to Bermuda. It is easy to pack, no wrinkles and can really go just about anywhere. With the heatwave we are experiencing, the top knot is a great choice for the hair and it leaves the neck and shoulder area neat so that the dress can be fully appreciated. Looks like this that require little to no accessories and a simple updo are priceless. Apply a touch of very natural makeup or just a nude lip and literally throw it on and go! Stay Cool, xo B
I am finding myself to be a big fan of all pieces that wrap. The Wrap look is feminine, flirty and many times ends in a brilliant Bow at some point, as today’s fabulous top does!! The Wrap look can be found in everything from dresses to rompers to tops. It is a very forgiving yet flattering look and can be dressed up or down, so versatile and fun. Today’s outfit is very simple, yet is elegant enough for just about anywhere your day or evening plans take you. I paired this chambray blue wrap top with summer white shorts. I chose a textured, white short with a side zipper to give a more sophisticated look. When paired with a nude wedge sandal, the outfit becomes dressy and perfect for numerous adventures. The best part of the ensemble is the terrific bow detail in the back. You look equally good coming and going!! This outfit takes little effort, which makes it an especially good one! If it’s a cool evening, a long sweater or even a jean jacket would be perfect! And, that’s a Wrap! 🙂 xo B
With proms, fund-raisers, Greek formals and wedding season upon us, I thought now would be a good time to do a post in that regard. And besides, I just love playing dress up…..still! For this post, I chose a look that would be perfect for any of the above festivities. I chose a dress that is short, plain in color, but busy in detail. I am a huge fan of the backless look and the wide playful ruffle at the hem of this piece. The deep V in the front is an added bonus. I found this dress on Revolve.com. It really has become my go to for many things. The varying price points and variety of styles make it worth clicking around and I always find something. The shoes, classic, pointed-toe Manolo’s. I love the pop of silver with the all black look :)) I went simple but mighty with my jewelry and hair. I did a pretty, messy ponytail to showcase the backless feature of the dress as well as to keep cool and comfortable while visiting and dancing at a crowded event. As for the jewelry, I left it at my Cartier Love bracelet along with my everyday rings including a Sydney Evans cross, a Cartier Love ring and a ring from my mom. The “piece de resistance” is my treasured string of Chanel pearls that can be worn in any number of ways. I chose to double wrap them into a choker allowing the remaining strings to cascade down my back. This was a relatively simple look to put together, but the final result is anything but simple!! I got dressed so quickly, I had a little time to play some pool in the lobby bar at the Gansevoort Meatpacking, NYC before a fun night out on the town! Remember, it doesn’t have to be complicated to be fancy, nor does it have to be all couture to be unforgettable!! Mixing and matching is all part of the fun in creating a great look!
This winter’s transition to spring has been an extremely unpredictable one. In order to compensate, it is the perfect opportunity to pump the brakes on that spring wardrobe we are all dying to pull out and go to some warm, but colorful transitional pieces like this darling dress highlighted in today’s post. This is a long sleeved mini, which happens to be a favorite look of mine in any season! The light blue and cream color combination screams, “welcome, spring”, yet allows you warmth and comfort in this non- spring weather we are still encountering here in the North East. Be practical, but pretty. This darling dress was one I picked up in a small hotel boutique in upstate NY. It doesn’t have to be a big name or have big price tag to make a big statement. Finds like this are gems. Stay warm and get your closet ready, as if it hasn’t been for a month!! Spring weather WILL come! Until then, improvise xoB
This cold is enough to make us all crazy, but if we dress warmly enough, we can do this!!
Last week’s In Touch magazine asked the question, “Would you wear a fuzzy sweater”? It was paired with a photo of Dakota Johnson wearing a white fuzzy sweater arriving for a taping of a talk show in NYC. She looked fabulous and I thought it was an odd caption because I thought, “Who wouldn’t wear a fuzzy sweater”? Why is that even a question??? Today’s post highlights a favorite Fuzzy Sweater of mine. It is a favorite for several reasons. #1 favorite reason, it is Fuzzy! It is so cozy. It is from LF, it is warm and soft and it carries a very special message. “Love Will Save Us All”! So, on this very cold morning, I pulled many warm and cozy pieces to put together this casual, yet neat outfit for a morning on the LES. I kept this outfit in the Kimye black and grey color palette. To the black, fuzzy, LF sweater, I added a cable knit sweater circle skirt with an easy, elastic waist band. This is a similar comfort concept to leggings or sweats, but not quite so informal. Thick, opaque, black tights kept my legs very warm and my Sorel boots with the fur were a perfect addition for added warmth and comfort. I was heading to Two Hands, NYC , a favorite spot for a warm, healthy breakfast. If you haven’t been, it’s a must! Remember as many of us are stuck in this deep freeze, we do not have to sacrifice what we are wearing to keep warm. Layers can be fun and very stylish!! There is no need to hide under those big heavy coats. Wearing a fun, comfy outfit under there can even serve as a little ‘pick me up’ on these very cold and sometimes depressing dreary days! It’s still worth the effort to look good, because you will feel good!! xo B
I was not going to let the cold stand between me and my Momofuku. On this chilly day I knew I was going to need to bundle up to make the trek down to SoHo. I started by putting on a basic black turtleneck. This is a wardrobe staple. I practically lived in turtle necks the entire month of december. They keep you cozy and can be worn with absolutely anything. This one is made by Splendid, but I am also a fan of the Bloomingdale’s Cashmere. I paired it with some distressed denim that has flannel patches underneath the rips. It was a good start but I was certainly going to need more. That is when I spotted my Aqua camo vest. I am an avid lover of this pattern because it is a little bit more unique. Instead of using the traditional green hues, this vest is made up of grey, black and white tones. Best yet–it has a hood! I was getting closer to completing my outfit but it was still not quite there yet. I grabbed my oversized grey cashmere scarf and a matching head wrap. It could not have worked more perfectly! The head-wrap, adorned with a bow of course, could not be more perfect. Fabulous and Functional! I wore some super fuzzy socks to keep my toes warm and continued to stuff my feet into my black Timberland boots. I was ready to brave the cold and determined to get my cereal milk soft serve… Let me tell you it was so worth it!
With the winter weather still upon the first thought going through everyone’s mind when getting ready for the day is how to dress as cozy as possible. In the colder months people have the tendency to sacrifice style for their (much-needed) warmth and comfort, but this does not have to be the case! It is still possible to mix some of the latest trends into your comfy and casual outfit. One of my favorite current trends is patterns and mixing patterns. Patterned leggings have been spotted all over the place and are an easy way to bring an element of fun into your wardrobe. They are a necessity for everyone’s closet! I paired these grey and white polka dot leggings with one of my all time favorite flannels from LF. I am a huge fan of flannels because… well who isn’t?! They are so effortless and versatile, you can dress them up or down. This particular one I have been coveting for a very long time. The second I saw it on an LF instagram post I knew that it had to be mine. I rushed over to the store in SoHo, but by the time I had gotten there they were sold out. I guess they were a must have for everyone! I was beyond excited when one of the girls called me and told me they were back in. I wasn’t missing out this time! I have gotten so much use out of it since then. I paired my outfit with a pair of white North Face snow boots, my Burberry winter jacket and last but definitely not least my favorite pair of Dior ” So Real” sunglasses (which are currently all the rage). I was cozy and comfy all day, but I definitely did not sacrifice style!
