OOTD

These are a few of my favorite things

Favorite place? Check! Favorite sculpture? Check! Favorite outfit? Check! Nothing is better than having everything I love in one place. Central Park is one of my favorite places in the entire world, so there was no better way to spend some free time in my busy afternoon than watching the sail boats and relaxing (in one of my favorite outfits none the less!). I put this together by beginning with this striped skirt made by Aqua. The banded waist, box pleats and textured scalloped stripes are all perfection. This is the perfect piece to build  a simple outfit around. I decided to pair my skirt with a long-sleeved cropped sweater which I bought at American Apparel. This sweater is one my go to basic items. It transitioned perfectly from summer into fall due to the light material, sleeve length and color. For my shoes, I chose one of my most classic pair, black Louboutins. They are such a staple item because I have been able to wear them anywhere from a casual lunch to a black tie gala! I felt like this outfit needed a pop of color so I carried my bright red Gucci Soho chain shoulder bag (which perfectly coordinated with my red soles)! All in all it was a very successful afternoon spent with just a few of my favorite things!

Hello, GoodBye

Today’s post features one of the best style details out there.  When the outfit looks as good when you approach to say, “Hello” as it does when you turn to say, “Goodbye”, you’ve got a winner!  Such is the case with today’s Ted Baker romper.  It caught my eye because of the bright orange color and flattering, simple style with the Jackie-O-esque collar.  It is so feminine and easy (maybe even a little sexy?!). Rompers are where it’s at! The three-quarter length sleeves and color make it a perfect transitional piece from summer to fall. As far as I was concerned, it was a winner at first glance! But then…. I saw the back detailing and it was like falling in love all over again!! This is where you might even look better saying goodbye and walking away.  Because of the low crossover detail, I had some fun and wore my necklace backwards down my back.  It is a special piece that was given to me several months ago that reads, “Happiness”. When you wear the mantra daily, it serves as a constant reminder that, no matter what, there is always something to be happy about!  With this rather simple and plain (yet, anything but boring!) outfit, I pulled out my Favorite shoes.  These Louis Vuitton peep toes with double straps that close with big gold buttons on the sides are truly spectacular.  I adore them and they work to perfection with this outfit.  I carried a little Christian Dior canvas monogram bag and wore a collection of some of my Hermes H bracelets .  So, You say Goodbye and I say Hello…. Hello, Hello because no matter, This looks great either way!!

#NYFW

Last night, I was in NYC to attend my first ever New York Fashion Week event, yes, little ole me!! While it was not Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino or Chanel (I will be there one day <3), this was a quaint show that took place at Stitch Bar and Lounge on 37th St. A newer designer was unveiling her line of little black dresses. It was a fun, intimate vibe and I was so happy to be invited!! For my NYFW debut, I chose to wear my new go to favorite- Torn by Ronny Kobo.  I’ve said it before, the fabric, the prints, the look and the comfort level are all details that cannot be ignored.  This American designer gets it and so do I! I chose this darling dress because while it is simple, the print is fun and young and the style is as well.  Don’t be shocked; there are even little shoulder pads in this dress.  I was like – what the heck????? My mom said…they used to be in everything, they must be coming back! No matter, they just gave the edge of the shoulder a little lift and I adore this dress! To accessorize, I wore my fabulous black and rhinestone Chanel cuff and Chanel crystal logo earrings and that was it.  I carried the black Soho bag by Gucci.  My shoes were a new find,  my first pair of Alice and Olivia shoes.  These are my new love.  Drixa, these black, studded, strappy heels are really magnificent with a 3-button closure on the outside.  Honestly, I love my shoes and the price point of these, while still expensive, they are not exorbitant, yet I felt like they were priceless (and really comfortable too!)!! I finished off the night with a quick pop in to Pinkberry and it was a success.

Every Girl Needs A Perfect Black Dress

The one thing that every girl must own is the perfect black dress. One would think this would not be such a difficult task because there are a million to choose from. Well… for those who think that you could not be more wrong. It is nearly impossible to find the perfect one, so when I found this one at Club Monaco I thought that I had hit the jackpot. The best thing about one of these must have dresses is that you can so easily tie it in to any occasion. You can dress them up or down and every time you wear it, it can look different based upon the accessories that you have chosen. I love feminine girl clothing (as you may have noticed) so this dress is perfect for me. The oversize bow in the back adds an element of femininity to the otherwise simple dress. It can also be worn in just about any season because black is such a universal color. The polyester blended fabric is light and flowly, so it was perfect for this summer evening dinner at Nick and Toni’s. I added my black Louboutins dress up the look, along with a sterling silver cuff and pair of large pearl earrings. Refined With a Big Dose of Fun

LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton was the location for the photo shoot for today’s post. It truly is majestic, tranquil and not to be missed!! In this elegant sculpture garden and art museum, I felt so at peace, yet energized, as I strolled through the 16 acre property. The OOTD is an extremely comfortable two piece outfit in black and white. It is such a versatile ensemble and with a cashmere wrap or long flowing sweater, this can easily go well in to fall. A simple black flat works just as well as a strappy heel for this duo. This is close to a perfect outfit (if there is such a thing). There is no, “What should I wear with this?” It’s ease puts the exclamation point on the perfection. I chose my over-sized Chanel sunglasses to go with the beautiful day. I couldn’t have been more comfortable during the time spent at the reserve and still felt like I looked good enough for my dinner reservation at Serafina! ……..which was so fortunate because I think I failed to mention the super stretchy fabric!! Perfect for a big dinner out!

Don’t forget: It’s Fashion Week, Peeps!!!

Dressing Up for Fall

As fall is approaching and the school year has begun, I have been keeping my eye out for transitional pieces. Although these darling pink striped shorts with side zippers are a typical summer item, they can easily be worn into fall simply by making a few adjustments! To make these shorts work for fall all I did was add a long sleeve crop sweater from American Apparel. The long sleeves and color make it perfect for fall, while the crop look is still a little bit summery. I accessorized by adding a Henri Bendel long necklace with a light pink pig charm. The necklace works with my color scheme and adds a little bit of fun to the outfit. I paired it with a black Hermes bracelet consisting of gold accents. For my bag, I carried a black Kieselstein Cord purse with gold hardware. The closure has an alligator detail. It is a very classic bag which also assists creating a look that is more geared towards the fall. For shoes I wore my Ferragamo open-toed pumps, which are also black with gold accents. These shoes are an awesome transitional shoe because black can be worn at any time of year, but the open toe is also a summer essential. I put a simple black headband in to complete the look and I was ready to go out for the day!DSC_0313DSC_0329DSC_0319DSC_0316DSC_0339DSC_0335

Feeling Anything but Blue

This really is the perfect dress for me. I love clothing that is feminine and what is more girly than ruffles and a bow! Another bonus is the elastic bottom, it majorly helps to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions! The gold zipper and buttons down the front add just the right amount of detailing to the dress. Because the dress has so many elements to it, it really needs little accessorizing. What I chose to do was to slip on a gold bracelet and ring because I wanted to dress it up a little for dinner. I also wore pearl and gold earings that matched the dress perfectly! The thing that I love the most about this dress is how transitional it can be. With fall right around the corner I have been trying to find pieces that can go from summer right into fall, without looking out-of-place. Both the color and style of the dress make it perfect for both seasons! For footwear I just slipped on a pair of simple gold sandals. I can’t wait to bring this dress to school with me!DSC_0970DSC_0991DSC_0997DSC_0992DSC_0995DSC_0986Dress: Solaris | Shoes: Sam Edelman

Hot Winter White

Today’s post needs little explanation.  This exceptional dress by Phoebe Couture is truly a special one.  The strapless style with a satin belted waist is so feminine and soft.  The layers of scalloped petals at the hem are a unique and eye catching detail.  This dress would be perfect for a Labor Day White Party, a summer or even early fall wedding.  It is an ivory color which will carry you safely past that Labor Day line, which has become very blurry anyways.  I paired this dress with a favorite pair of Valentino shoe with a great crystal bow accent, adding to the girly feel.  The only jewelry that was needed, if any, was a simple collection of David Yurman bracelets.  This look is classic yet not stuffy and is timeless in nature.  Dressing up is such fun!!!

Under the Boardwalk, Down by the Sea…….

The post for today needs as little explanation as it does preparation when getting ready! This is really just the perfect summer dress.  The black and white stripes and the easy strapless maxi dress are details that are the epitome of summer style.

I added some simple jewelry and was set for anything the day called for from day to night.  This look belongs in The Dummies Guide to Style, you can’t go wrong.

The Motion of the Ocean

The subject of today’s post is an outfit that just screams summer day with these blue and white shorts that remind me of the deep blue sea. I chose them for, yes, the color and I especially like the side zipper detail for a flat front look and I adore the scalloped hem on these shorts. These details dress up the shorts a bit. I paired them with a sleeveless cotton blouse and finished off the look with this fantastic fringed scarf. Scarves can be awesome in the summer too!! This one is such lightweight cotton. The white color is so crisp and the contrasting navy fringe makes this piece iconic summer in navy and white. I feel dressed up yet relaxed in this outfit that I pulled together from a combination of pieces that I purchased individually because I liked something about each one. They did not become an OOTD until they met in my closet :).
