This very special mini dress from Alexis serves as the centerpiece for today’s blog post. With the roller coaster temperatures of spring, it is the perfect staple. You can never go wrong with winter white and this dress is a perfect example of that! It is a standout piece that I chose to wear for my Easter celebrating. The long sleeves have the perfect detailed flare and thin bows tied at each wrist. It is ultra feminine and flattering with a straight loose style and contrasting black bow tied at the neck. I paired the dress with an over the knee black suede heeled boot. A black Chanel wallet on a chain featuring Chanel’s signature flower, the camellia was my bag of choice. This is a simple ensemble to put together, but looks like so much more. This is one of those outfits that can help boost your confidence and help you feel good even if you really aren’t!! Everyone has days like that. While this is the first time I am wearing this piece, I know it will be a popular, no brainier choice often. xo B
I know most people hate rainy days and I do too. Waking up in the morning when it is raining makes it a lot harder to get motivated to dress up. But since I am not a sweatpants, t-shirt kinda girl, I went for another easy casual look. I threw on my favorite pair of Paige Jeans. The zippers add a great detail and give the jeans a bit of a different and edgier look from your average pair. I threw on my cropped thermal shirt from free people because on days like this you want to be comfy, but not too hot. I also added my Hermes belt to pull together the outfit. Lastly I grabbed my Barbour rain coat as I was walking out the door. This jacket speaks for itself and really makes an outfit on its own. I wore my black rain boots with a hot pink monogram to add a little bit of color and fun. Hair is always difficult to maintain in bad weather, so I threw it up into a high pony tail. It takes a short amount of time and also looks great without putting in too much effort just to have it ruined later on! When you dress up it makes you feel better, so don’t let rainy days get you down! Try putting on a simple outfit, it will make all the difference!
With proms, fund-raisers, Greek formals and wedding season upon us, I thought now would be a good time to do a post in that regard. And besides, I just love playing dress up…..still! For this post, I chose a look that would be perfect for any of the above festivities. I chose a dress that is short, plain in color, but busy in detail. I am a huge fan of the backless look and the wide playful ruffle at the hem of this piece. The deep V in the front is an added bonus. I found this dress on Revolve.com. It really has become my go to for many things. The varying price points and variety of styles make it worth clicking around and I always find something. The shoes, classic, pointed-toe Manolo’s. I love the pop of silver with the all black look :)) I went simple but mighty with my jewelry and hair. I did a pretty, messy ponytail to showcase the backless feature of the dress as well as to keep cool and comfortable while visiting and dancing at a crowded event. As for the jewelry, I left it at my Cartier Love bracelet along with my everyday rings including a Sydney Evans cross, a Cartier Love ring and a ring from my mom. The “piece de resistance” is my treasured string of Chanel pearls that can be worn in any number of ways. I chose to double wrap them into a choker allowing the remaining strings to cascade down my back. This was a relatively simple look to put together, but the final result is anything but simple!! I got dressed so quickly, I had a little time to play some pool in the lobby bar at the Gansevoort Meatpacking, NYC before a fun night out on the town! Remember, it doesn’t have to be complicated to be fancy, nor does it have to be all couture to be unforgettable!! Mixing and matching is all part of the fun in creating a great look!
This winter’s transition to spring has been an extremely unpredictable one. In order to compensate, it is the perfect opportunity to pump the brakes on that spring wardrobe we are all dying to pull out and go to some warm, but colorful transitional pieces like this darling dress highlighted in today’s post. This is a long sleeved mini, which happens to be a favorite look of mine in any season! The light blue and cream color combination screams, “welcome, spring”, yet allows you warmth and comfort in this non- spring weather we are still encountering here in the North East. Be practical, but pretty. This darling dress was one I picked up in a small hotel boutique in upstate NY. It doesn’t have to be a big name or have big price tag to make a big statement. Finds like this are gems. Stay warm and get your closet ready, as if it hasn’t been for a month!! Spring weather WILL come! Until then, improvise xoB
If you haven’t discovered the line of shoes put out by Ivanka Trump, you are missing out!! They are so comfortable and so well made. Best of all, they are so reasonably priced. These over the knee suede-look boots have been a staple in my wardrobe all winter and will carry into spring beautifully. The heel height is perfect and the zipper detail up the back make them attractive coming and going. For today’s post I’ve paired them with this black cashmere turtleneck sweater and a fun pleather rose gold skirt, also with a back zipper detail. The black opaque tights set the solid black landscape for the pop of color that the skirt provides. I kept the jewelry black as well with the chain/tassel necklace and the jet wrap bracelet, which is actually a necklace. Keeping the skirt the only additional color allows it to stand out with its great soft color and subtle metallic shimmer. This is such a great outfit as we go from winter to spring allowing enough warmth that a coat is not needed to hide this great ensemble. As things warm up, if they ever do, substitute the turtleneck with a t-shirt or short-sleeved sweater. This can go from business meeting to lunch or even dinner date. It is very comfortable so you can go all day and you don’t find yourself aching for that time to get home and throw on sweats!! This is a definite go-to outfit for a variety of occasions. The look can easily be recreated with similar pieces. Give it a try, have fun!
As a side note, I’m super excited to be running in my 1st half marathon in Central Park April 19th. It was just announced that Ivanka Trump is also be participating in the More Fitness Shape Women’s run as her 1st half marathon as well!! -Hope we make it!!!
This cold is enough to make us all crazy, but if we dress warmly enough, we can do this!!
Last week’s In Touch magazine asked the question, “Would you wear a fuzzy sweater”? It was paired with a photo of Dakota Johnson wearing a white fuzzy sweater arriving for a taping of a talk show in NYC. She looked fabulous and I thought it was an odd caption because I thought, “Who wouldn’t wear a fuzzy sweater”? Why is that even a question??? Today’s post highlights a favorite Fuzzy Sweater of mine. It is a favorite for several reasons. #1 favorite reason, it is Fuzzy! It is so cozy. It is from LF, it is warm and soft and it carries a very special message. “Love Will Save Us All”! So, on this very cold morning, I pulled many warm and cozy pieces to put together this casual, yet neat outfit for a morning on the LES. I kept this outfit in the Kimye black and grey color palette. To the black, fuzzy, LF sweater, I added a cable knit sweater circle skirt with an easy, elastic waist band. This is a similar comfort concept to leggings or sweats, but not quite so informal. Thick, opaque, black tights kept my legs very warm and my Sorel boots with the fur were a perfect addition for added warmth and comfort. I was heading to Two Hands, NYC , a favorite spot for a warm, healthy breakfast. If you haven’t been, it’s a must! Remember as many of us are stuck in this deep freeze, we do not have to sacrifice what we are wearing to keep warm. Layers can be fun and very stylish!! There is no need to hide under those big heavy coats. Wearing a fun, comfy outfit under there can even serve as a little ‘pick me up’ on these very cold and sometimes depressing dreary days! It’s still worth the effort to look good, because you will feel good!! xo B
I was not going to let the cold stand between me and my Momofuku. On this chilly day I knew I was going to need to bundle up to make the trek down to SoHo. I started by putting on a basic black turtleneck. This is a wardrobe staple. I practically lived in turtle necks the entire month of december. They keep you cozy and can be worn with absolutely anything. This one is made by Splendid, but I am also a fan of the Bloomingdale’s Cashmere. I paired it with some distressed denim that has flannel patches underneath the rips. It was a good start but I was certainly going to need more. That is when I spotted my Aqua camo vest. I am an avid lover of this pattern because it is a little bit more unique. Instead of using the traditional green hues, this vest is made up of grey, black and white tones. Best yet–it has a hood! I was getting closer to completing my outfit but it was still not quite there yet. I grabbed my oversized grey cashmere scarf and a matching head wrap. It could not have worked more perfectly! The head-wrap, adorned with a bow of course, could not be more perfect. Fabulous and Functional! I wore some super fuzzy socks to keep my toes warm and continued to stuff my feet into my black Timberland boots. I was ready to brave the cold and determined to get my cereal milk soft serve… Let me tell you it was so worth it!
Camo isn’t just for hunting anymore! I am currently obsessing over all and everything camo. For a day out strolling along the High Line in the West Village I decided to pull out my camo pants from Guess. They are spot on because the pants themselves are a lighter hunter green and the print is so subtle and blends perfectly. I also die over the gold ankle zipper which perfectly matches the gold studs on my Valentino rockstud flats. I decided to throw on one of my favorite white silk blouses from Equipment ( I have one in almost every color). They are so light and easy to throw on with any pair of pants or skirt! A good white blouse is a major wardrobe essential and they can easily pull together just about any outfit. Because it was going to be a little chillier on the water I pulled on my TSE Cashmere sweater over my blouse and it still looks just as good! To complete my outfit I wore a pair of Celine sunglasses that I purchased at one of my favorite stores Jeffrey Atlanta New York (which is located right underneath the High Line, of course I popped in afterwards). I grabbed my leather Hunter tote and was ready to take on the day!
Today is a very special day in that we are celebrating the birth of one of my all-time favorite shoe designers Mr. Christian Louboutin! Louboutin brought stilettos back into high fashion during the 1990s, designing shoes with a variety of heel heights and styles. Who else but Christian Louboutin could design such a variety of shoes from the classic black pumps to edgy, over the top shoes adorned with crystals and spikes. It is impossible to miss spotting a red bottom while strolling through high-end department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks, Barneys, or Bergdorfs. He has truly set the bar in the world of shoe design. Lets give a huge Hallelujah and Happy Birthday to the man who has forever changed the world of shoes! Here are some personal favorites of his creations!
Being cozy doesn’t have to mean a great pair of baggy sweats or leggings. Sweaters can be the ultimate in cozy. They have to have the right fit and feel and when they do, it can be like wearing a big hug all day or night. I am all about being comfy and cozy, without looking too casual. Today’s outfit is a perfect example of that. This amazing sweater from LF has it all and I do mean all!! It is super soft and comfy and has so many details that add to it’s perfection. The relaxed turtleneck keeps you warm but is not constricting and the hi-low hem of this is so on point with today’s trend. I paired the sweater with the most fabulous pair of Carmar Denim jeans that I had to be coaxed into trying on. I was not at all sure about the boot cut hem, however, the girls at LF were 100% correct- these jeans are heaven with a little bit of stretch, a touch of distress, a simple cut and great length. These jeans can easily go from day to night. I wore them with a simple pair of black suede wedge ankle boots that I purchased at H H&M for a steal! Grabbing my bag of the moment (Celine) and throwing on some of my favorite jewelry, I was ready to hit the streets of SoHo. It was a productive day of shopping, sightseeing and lunching at my fave- The Dutch! A perfect day in what I think is a perfect outfit!! xo B
