Favorite place? Check! Favorite sculpture? Check! Favorite outfit? Check! Nothing is better than having everything I love in one place. Central Park is one of my favorite places in the entire world, so there was no better way to spend some free time in my busy afternoon than watching the sail boats and relaxing (in one of my favorite outfits none the less!). I put this together by beginning with this striped skirt made by Aqua. The banded waist, box pleats and textured scalloped stripes are all perfection. This is the perfect piece to build a simple outfit around. I decided to pair my skirt with a long-sleeved cropped sweater which I bought at American Apparel. This sweater is one my go to basic items. It transitioned perfectly from summer into fall due to the light material, sleeve length and color. For my shoes, I chose one of my most classic pair, black Louboutins. They are such a staple item because I have been able to wear them anywhere from a casual lunch to a black tie gala! I felt like this outfit needed a pop of color so I carried my bright red Gucci Soho chain shoulder bag (which perfectly coordinated with my red soles)! All in all it was a very successful afternoon spent with just a few of my favorite things!
Last night, I was in NYC to attend my first ever New York Fashion Week event, yes, little ole me!! While it was not Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino or Chanel (I will be there one day <3), this was a quaint show that took place at Stitch Bar and Lounge on 37th St. A newer designer was unveiling her line of little black dresses. It was a fun, intimate vibe and I was so happy to be invited!! For my NYFW debut, I chose to wear my new go to favorite- Torn by Ronny Kobo. I’ve said it before, the fabric, the prints, the look and the comfort level are all details that cannot be ignored. This American designer gets it and so do I! I chose this darling dress because while it is simple, the print is fun and young and the style is as well. Don’t be shocked; there are even little shoulder pads in this dress. I was like – what the heck????? My mom said…they used to be in everything, they must be coming back! No matter, they just gave the edge of the shoulder a little lift and I adore this dress! To accessorize, I wore my fabulous black and rhinestone Chanel cuff and Chanel crystal logo earrings and that was it. I carried the black Soho bag by Gucci. My shoes were a new find, my first pair of Alice and Olivia shoes. These are my new love. Drixa, these black, studded, strappy heels are really magnificent with a 3-button closure on the outside. Honestly, I love my shoes and the price point of these, while still expensive, they are not exorbitant, yet I felt like they were priceless (and really comfortable too!)!! I finished off the night with a quick pop in to Pinkberry and it was a success.
When I saw the piece for today’s post, I knew immediately when and where I would be wearing it if it suited me as well as it did the hanger. Thank goodness, I think it did. When I put it on, I did not want to take it off……..ever! I felt like a princess. This Alice and Olivia Gab Pleated Halter Jumpsuit is 100% polyester and flows beautifully. The details are subtle, yet add to the awe at every turn. The cut-out back closes with an exposed center zipper, so it is not to be missed. I had no choice but to wear my hair up so the ‘T’ design was not covered. The bodice is made up of tiny soft pleating and adds another element of sophistication. The only color this jumpsuit comes in is white, which is so fitting because it truly is so special. This outfit is certainly deserving of one of my prized pair of shoes ( a match made in heaven!). These shoes are like artwork and I only wear them for very special occasions, as I did on my 18th birthday. The Louis Vuitton sandals are delicate and sleek. When you look closely, you will find that the crystals form the designs in the logo that is LV. I added a crystal upper arm bracelet and wore a wide black Chanel cuff bursting with crystals in the Chanel logo. I carried the Soho leather chain crossbody Gucci bag in black. The ensemble was perfect for the setting below the Brooklyn Bridge. It is magical as you watch constant boat traffic and the lights of the city come alive from the River Café in Dumbo.
What is the one accessory no one should leave home without? While it will be noticed and appreciated by those around you, and will even be associated with you by many, this accessory will never be seen by any. Those close to you will most definitely be aware you’ve left home without it. What is this invisible must have accessory that flawlessly coordinates with no matter what you are wearing? A signature fragrance is that one accessory everyone should own. It may be a process, and take time to find the perfect one that suits you, but it is well worth the effort! Finding that perfect fragrance is a bit like finding love, you find it when and where you least expect it. Take it slow, but be persistent in your mission. Begin by asking store for samples at your favorite department stores and try a new one each day. When you find one you like, wear it for several consecutive days to see if it really suits you. When you think you feel like you have the one for you, then purchase a small bottle. You will most likely desire a light scent and the choices are infinite.
The scents can be Earthy, Floral, Fruity, even Floral Fruity! While creating fragrances is very scientific, the selection process is very personal and works on a trial and error premise. Be open-minded, patient, and have fun! It will be well worth it when spritzing yourself as you finish “getting ready”. It just makes you feel good. Here are a few of my favorites!
On a random Monday night, I received an invitation to enjoy a fun night out with friends. The occasion lent itself to dressing up on a warm summer night. I chose to wear this Alice and Olivia strapless romper. There are so many details that make this piece special. To name a few:
1. The clean crisp white color
2. The surprise contrast of black mesh side and back panels
3. The visible deep zipper running down the back
4. The invisible slash pockets in the front (I LOVE the hidden pockets, such a bonus!)
5. The neat, single knife pleats in front
6. The overall WOW factor of this understated yet elegant piece that is so easy to wear.
To complete the outfit, I added a bold, gold tassel statement necklace with subtle diamond accents by Paige Novick. I carried a black Soho Leather Chain Shoulder Bag by Gucci. For my footwear, I chose the Louboutin Rolando HiddenPlatform Pump in black patent leather. I kept my hair simple in a sleek, low pony tail and was ready to go!

This weeks feature item is by my favorite new-to-me designer that I stumbled upon in SoHo on a birthday shopping trip! This delicious fun style is terrific. The highlight piece for today is this light wash, super cute romper by: ONE TEAPSOON. This piece is so versatile and perfect for a summer getaway. It looks just as cute and flirty as a beach cover up as it does for a quick Starbucks run into town. This sleeveless romper even has a little bit of sexy with the low back and swingy skirt like bottom. It’s so feminine and fun with little to no effort. Pair it with your favorite flip-flops. I paired it with Tory Burch Miller sandals in pink magenta for a pop of color! I also wore my all-time favorite Gucci Aviator sunglasses. Be sure to throw your hair up into a messy pony or bun to accentuate the backless detail. You can even pair it with a leather jacket for a casual night out!
