Camo isn’t just for hunting anymore! I am currently obsessing over all and everything camo. For a day out strolling along the High Line in the West Village I decided to pull out my camo pants from Guess. They are spot on because the pants themselves are a lighter hunter green and the print is so subtle and blends perfectly. I also die over the gold ankle zipper which perfectly matches the gold studs on my Valentino rockstud flats. I decided to throw on one of my favorite white silk blouses from Equipment ( I have one in almost every color). They are so light and easy to throw on with any pair of pants or skirt! A good white blouse is a major wardrobe essential and they can easily pull together just about any outfit. Because it was going to be a little chillier on the water I pulled on my TSE Cashmere sweater over my blouse and it still looks just as good! To complete my outfit I wore a pair of Celine sunglasses that I purchased at one of my favorite stores Jeffrey Atlanta New York (which is located right underneath the High Line, of course I popped in afterwards). I grabbed my leather Hunter tote and was ready to take on the day!
The subject of today’s post is an outfit that just screams summer day with these blue and white shorts that remind me of the deep blue sea. I chose them for, yes, the color and I especially like the side zipper detail for a flat front look and I adore the scalloped hem on these shorts. These details dress up the shorts a bit. I paired them with a sleeveless cotton blouse and finished off the look with this fantastic fringed scarf. Scarves can be awesome in the summer too!! This one is such lightweight cotton. The white color is so crisp and the contrasting navy fringe makes this piece iconic summer in navy and white. I feel dressed up yet relaxed in this outfit that I pulled together from a combination of pieces that I purchased individually because I liked something about each one. They did not become an OOTD until they met in my closet :).
I just love to find a perfect outfit! One that needs little accessorizing, is comfortable, looks great (stating the obvious) and can take you to a variety of places. A surprise or unique detail in that outfit is a terrific bonus. This romper by Ark and Co. has all that. It is so easy to wear, the sleeves make it perfect to wear day in to a cooler evening and it is a flattering cut. The bonus detail to this outfit is the heavily embroidered bouquet of flowers that cascades from each shoulder. This is such a great thought that makes this so different from a simple solid black romper. The embroidery itself is enough accessorizing if you just need to pull it on and go. It is not so over powering though, so if you are feeling like throwing on a long necklace or a few bracelets, you will still look great and it will not be too much. I added Again with this piece, I had my choice of shoe style depending on where I was going. I wore a simple pair of Ferragamo sandals. I also carried a House of Harlow bag. It is big enough to fit a phone and lip gloss and a few other necessities. It isis the perfect size! What girl wouldn’t love an outfit that comes with not one, but two bouquets of flowers!!!!

This is my casual version of The Little Black Dress. It is super comfy, super cute and super versatile. The raised link stitching and solid trim at the elbows, hem and neckline add extra visual interest. This dress can stand alone or you can add a long necklace or two as I did. Both showcase the letter ‘B’, which is my nickname. For a show of color, I added a leather wrap bracelet in fuscia with a decorative gold disc by Tory Burch. This dress is a great length and stretchy too so it can be worn for almost any occasion. It is made by B Skinz. My bag of choice is a Coach limited edition anniversary bag. It is a large straw and leather bag with gold hardware. The bonus detail on this bag is the abundance of leather tags surrounding the top. Each and every color ever used by Coach is included in the rainbow surrounding the rim. It is a real conversation piece whenever I carry it and it is large enough inside to carry just about anything I could need for a day out. Its only drawback, it is on the heavy side, even when empty. Sometimes we have to sacrifice comfort for looks. I’m wearing a pair of Tory Burch slides in gold.
Something you might have learned about me is that I like to have fun. A sense of humor is so important in all aspects of life. Hence, my attraction to the Designers parody of pop culture and sports wear. My first was a grey Homies sweatshirt with gold foil given to me by my mom. I have an almost unhealthy adoration for Hermes, and it could not have been more perfect. The sweatshirt is designed by Brian Litchtenbergan LA based designer who gets creative with the logos of many iconic fashion labels. His designs are very popular and worn by the likes of Rhianna and Cara Delevigne. Other brand’s have followed “Brianel’s” (his own personal spoof mocking Chanel) lead in playing the Name Game. This parody apparel can be found in a variety of styles and prices with Lichtenberg’s design at the top. The tops can be paired with almost any bottom. Pants, skirts, shorts, you name it. You will look great and most certainly garner a smile or two from passers-by! In life, we should NEVER take ourselves too seriously and always have fun!
The inspiration for today’s post is a favorite designer of mine from across the pond, Burberry. Burberry plaid is iconic and can be seen used in many ways. It can be seen as a simple lining of a hooded garment, a contrasting pocket on a t-shirt or it can be used as an overall pattern as in a traditional kilt or even a cape. No matter how it is used, it is always classic and simple. Today I chose to wear such a classic women’s white blouse adorned with the Burberry trim peeking out from the lined placket, it is also used as a detail along the seam of the placket in a small welting down the front. I wear this shirt with so many things, but today I paired it with an easy but detailed pair of khaki linen shorts. They are cuffed shorts in a longer length with a pleated waistband. They close with four covered buttons. All of these details, make them more of a dressy short. I’m wearing vintage purple and gold earrings and a statement ring to keep the clean look. I chose to carry a limited edition Burberry bag and am wearing Valentino flats. I like this look because it is tailored, dressy and clean-looking. To Burberry I say, “Well done, you!”
What is the one accessory no one should leave home without? While it will be noticed and appreciated by those around you, and will even be associated with you by many, this accessory will never be seen by any. Those close to you will most definitely be aware you’ve left home without it. What is this invisible must have accessory that flawlessly coordinates with no matter what you are wearing? A signature fragrance is that one accessory everyone should own. It may be a process, and take time to find the perfect one that suits you, but it is well worth the effort! Finding that perfect fragrance is a bit like finding love, you find it when and where you least expect it. Take it slow, but be persistent in your mission. Begin by asking store for samples at your favorite department stores and try a new one each day. When you find one you like, wear it for several consecutive days to see if it really suits you. When you think you feel like you have the one for you, then purchase a small bottle. You will most likely desire a light scent and the choices are infinite.
The scents can be Earthy, Floral, Fruity, even Floral Fruity! While creating fragrances is very scientific, the selection process is very personal and works on a trial and error premise. Be open-minded, patient, and have fun! It will be well worth it when spritzing yourself as you finish “getting ready”. It just makes you feel good. Here are a few of my favorites!
