It’s a Wrap!

I am finding myself to be a big fan of all pieces that wrap. The Wrap look is feminine, flirty and many times ends in a brilliant Bow at some point, as today’s fabulous top does!! The Wrap look can be found in everything from dresses to rompers to tops.  It is a very forgiving yet flattering look and can be dressed up or down, so versatile and fun.  Today’s outfit is very simple, yet is elegant enough for just about anywhere your day or evening plans take you.  I paired this chambray blue wrap top with summer white shorts.  I chose a textured, white short with a side zipper to give a more sophisticated look.  When paired with a nude wedge sandal, the outfit becomes dressy and perfect for numerous adventures.  The best part of the ensemble is the terrific bow detail in the back.  You look equally good coming and going!! This outfit takes little effort, which makes it an especially good one! If it’s a cool evening, a long sweater or even a jean jacket would be perfect! And, that’s a Wrap! 🙂 xo B

Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue

As people are gearing up across the nation for our country’s big day, many are focused on how many hot dogs they will need and what kind of sides to provide.  Not me! I am thinking about the many options in my closet that I might wear on Friday to show my patriotism in a festive, but not over the top way.  It would have been easy to pull out my white jeans or shorts and pair them with a traditional navy and white striped top.  This always looks fabulous and anyone of any age can pull it off.  As I was going through the racks in my closet, though, I came upon my ivory silk blouse with navy blue stars.  This  I knew was going to be the focus of my – Happy Birthday, America- outfit.  Not wanting to wear the obvious white on the bottom option, I continued looking and chose a smart pair of very dark wash moto pants in denim.  These jeans are more like dress pants, as they have a hidden closure, no belt loops and are not your typical five pocket jeans.  They have a bit of an edgy look with the reinforced knees that resemble those pants worn by motocross riders.  The pants fit like a song and are a nice alternative to traditional style denim.  Not wanting to leave out the red in red, white and blue, I added my red flats, which are a comfortable and sensible choice for a long day of being on your feet at picnics and parties.  I popped on a fun, blue, geometric lucite bracelet and the look is simple and ready. Have a happy and safe 4th of July everyone!

Fifa Fan Frenzy, If You Can’t Beat ’em Join ’em!

World Cup soccer is a world-class sporting event with spectators repping a very unique fashion style. It differs from the neat, traditional styles akin to those events such as The Kentucky Derby and The US Open. It is also nothing like the general style you see at a major league sporting event, be it baseball, basketball, hockey or football. At each of those events, you will see a handful of rogue spectators dressed in crazy, over the top fan gear supporting their team. Well, multiply those rogue spectators by thousands and you have the norm in “style” being seen at the World Cup Fifa 2014 matches.

In a spirit that comes only every four years, I have chosen to present to you two Fifa appropriate looks. The first one you might wear out around town the day of an important match like today. I’m wearing a no. 8 Clint Dempsey USA kit by Nike. “Captain America” as he’s known has been huge for team USA! The shorts are a simple mesh, elastic waist, all-purpose sport short by Fit 2 Win in red.  Nike blue and white mid calf socks and Nike Bat Slide II’s complete the outfit. Perfect wear for a local restaurant viewing party, friendly gathering or hosting other USA fans for watching the match. The other look for today is only appropriate for the stands… in Brazil. I’ve reused the red shorts and paired them with a sleeveless Nation LTD t-shirt emblazoned with Old Glory. The socks are Red Lion High socks in the blue dots and stripes pattern.  Again, I’ve chosen the same Nike slides. Next is where the Fan Frenzy comes in.  All additional accessories are available at Walgreens. Upon completing this special look, I feel the urge to crank Toby Keith’s “Made in America” over and over.  I suggest you try the same.  If you weren’t overly excited for the game, you will be!

I Believe That We Will Win!
