When “Gilt-y” Feels Good

A love of fine fashion can be very expensive to say the least. For quite sometime I have taken advantage of the discount website Gilt.com. They have very current fashion at a deep discount. Several of my favorite statement pieces have been purchased on Gilt, guilt-free. (That really should be their slogan if you ask this little fashion blogger :).) I am crazy about the centerpiece for today’s ootp (outfit of the post) purchased at gilt.com. The pink skirt, heavily embroidered in cream stitching, is a standout piece that is gorgeous and more importantly, so comfortable to wear. It has a bit of stretch and doesn’t pinch at all. The gorgeous pink color is rich enough to easily go into fall/winter and the choices for a top pairing are numerous. I chose a simple cream silk blouse. A denim jacket, black leather jacket or a long sweater could easily be added for warmth and all would look equally stylish. Sometimes there is nothing like walking down the street and just feeling really good about what you are wearing. This was one of those outfits, as I’m not going to lie, I caught some looks in and around the TriBeCa park where we shot this post. I’m a little shy, but honestly, it felt darn good! A little confidence booster never hurts the self-esteem and is a fabulous accessory! My Valentino rock stud shoes in nude were my shoes of choice. These are the most comfortable heels ever. I can traipse the city for hours in these and never wish I’d worn flats! My dream is to own these in a few more colors! Dare to dream!!! Xo B

Uptown Girl

This vintage Chanel outfit is truly one of the best discoveries I have ever made on Ebay! It really is worth your time to scroll through your favorite designers.  You never know when a rare and exciting piece will hit the site.  This was one of those items that’s bidding went crazy the last minute.  You have to be prepared and have your ceiling price in your mind when the bidding goes crazy. As they say, you gotta know when to hold and when to fold.  I was not folding on this:).  It is a 2 piece set of Chanel knitwear.  The crop top is absolutely on point with today’s trend and the elastic waisted pants are timeless.  The sleeveless top with the slight cutaway arm holes and high neck is really special with the double “C” logo prominently adorning the front.  These details give the top a slightly dressy feel.  The pants are loose fitting and also are adorned with the traditional Chanel logo.  This outfit can be worn with heels and an evening bag or flats and  any bag.  It really depends on the look you are going for at the moment.  On this day, I was shooting uptown and went with a dressier look pairing the outfit with an elegant cuff, satin bow, a Chanel quilted bag and Marc Jacobs flats adorned with a tiny bow.  This outfit truly could take me anywhere in the city I needed to go, day or evening.  As the temperatures begin to drop, I will wear my long black cashmere open front sweater or carry my black cashmere wrap.  They will equally serve the outfit perfectly.  Once in awhile, it is fun to go a little over the top with special designer duds.  It can’t be everyday, but when it is…… oooh la la! As proven with this ensemble, Coco said, “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance”. xox B

Check Mate!

Milly is a designer that I have adored for a very long time.  I typically would go to a rack or pick out a dress in a magazine and more times than not, it was Milly.  Imagine my surprise when I walked over to the rack (actually, I ran- not gonna lie) and pulled out this suit only to find it was Milly too.  I am the last person you’d find choosing to wear a matched suit, but this is a real gem and very versatile.  It is not stuffy at all yet can be worn for business or pleasure.  The crisp navy and cream bold check is so inviting and the not too serious style makes it perfect. I love the big navy buttons that close the double breasted suit jacket and the cuffed hem on the shorts are a playful detail. This suit can be worn with a t-shirt or a silk blouse underneath. I went with an alternate choice that worked just as well as either of the first two options…..no shirt. This is a great transitional ensemble and I’m thinking it could even be worn with my navy suede over the knee boots, think Pretty Woman:) I love that movie!! I chose a sophisticated low navy pump with a bow as I was working in the city all day and wanted my feet to survive.  Shoe options are limitless with this suit. This one of those go to pieces that will work for a number of occasions.  It might be the jacket that you need, maybe the shorts or the pulled together look of a suit, no matter what, this will be called upon.  xo B

Elegance is a question of one’s personality more than one’s clothing.

Spotted: B At The Met!

….and I don’t mean Blair Waldorf! Admittedly, I am a HUGE Gossip Girl Fan! Didn’t miss an episode. If you haven’t watched it, please do!! When the opportunity arose to do a shoot at The Met, I knew the theme had to be Serena like. It needs little explanation and I will tell you this is one of my favorite looks of all time. I paired this Pink floral Ted Baker skirt with an Alice and Olivia simple black cashmere sweater with detachable white collar and cuffs. Black pumps and a little jewelry and we were set to shoot. Fascinating fact, you are not allowed to sit on the steps at The Met!! What?!? I could not wait for the guard who kept telling me to, “keep moving”, to move himself or look away so I could plop down and get just one shot as was seen in so many episodes. More than determined, I got it. This classic outfit just looks so polished, so feminine and easily transitions into fall. I only wish I could get away with wearing it to class, because I totally would. I Know You Love Me, XOXO (actually, I hope you do !)

Mixing It Up In The West Village

One of the best things about fashion and style is that your options are limitless!! There is no right or wrong (well, maybe there is- but go for it!) and you can use your biggest bargain in the same outfit you wear an extravagant piece. Every single thing does not have to be outrageously expensive and designer. It is lots of fun to be creative as I was in this outfit for a day of window-shopping. The pieces for today’s post range from my shoes, which were 50% off to my scarf that I bought on a trip to Paris and several price points in between. Pulled together, I love the look and hope you do too. I adore this military green jacket. It can be worn with so many different pieces. These range in price from $29 to $2,900. Find one that suits your style and budget. You won’t be sorry. They are being worn all over by men and women alike. I wore mine with some simple ripped jeans, not too distressed and a long sleeved t-shirt, no belt- livin’ on the edge! I added the lilac Louis Vuitton scarf for a pop of color and wore some whimsical, really fun C. Wonder embroidered velvet flats that I found in Soho. The look is neat, yet a little edgy and carefree. Definitely give the mixing and matching of pieces a try, I think you will be surprised by the results!! xoB
