This is one of those outfits that just comes together and feels right. You go to your closet with no real plan and pull out a favorite. In this case it was my black stretchy tank top. I started adding to that and, this outfit is what evolved. It’s great, I love when that happens!! You know, not every outfit has to be designer this or designer that, although that is a lot of fun! This outfit is definitely not big in name, but I still feel every bit as good in this as I do in a big name outfit. As a matter of fact, I really love this collaboration of random pieces. The skirt by, Elan is one that I found at a small boutique associated with, believe it or not, a hair salon. I was instantly attracted to it. I love to look girly and as a fun fact, I refused to wear pants for years, even wearing a skirt to play t-ball because I didn’t approve of the uniform pants. I never wore a pair of pants to school until high school, unless it was mandatory. Anyway, this very feminine, almost romantic looking skirt was to be mine for sure. I had no idea what I would wear it with, but had to have it. After hanging in my closet for weeks and weeks, the outfit finally evolved. The skirt is the focus with my simple black tank and metallic woven wide belt. The flannel plaid shirt, yes, pink(my favorite color) plaid shirt, is multi purpose. It is made by Woolrich. It is very trendy wrapped around the waist and very functional when the sun goes down or when you pop into an air -conditioned space. I am wearing some fun, perfect for summer turquoise colored jewelry that adds the right burst of color. The bracelet collection can be found at Henri Bendel and the ring was purchased on a discount website. I often like a long necklace and this wide link, gold chain with a few simple bead charms, including one in turquoise, is meant for this outfit. A simple pair of tan, leather, Sam Edelman thong sandals complete this outfit.
This is my casual version of The Little Black Dress. It is super comfy, super cute and super versatile. The raised link stitching and solid trim at the elbows, hem and neckline add extra visual interest. This dress can stand alone or you can add a long necklace or two as I did. Both showcase the letter ‘B’, which is my nickname. For a show of color, I added a leather wrap bracelet in fuscia with a decorative gold disc by Tory Burch. This dress is a great length and stretchy too so it can be worn for almost any occasion. It is made by B Skinz. My bag of choice is a Coach limited edition anniversary bag. It is a large straw and leather bag with gold hardware. The bonus detail on this bag is the abundance of leather tags surrounding the top. Each and every color ever used by Coach is included in the rainbow surrounding the rim. It is a real conversation piece whenever I carry it and it is large enough inside to carry just about anything I could need for a day out. Its only drawback, it is on the heavy side, even when empty. Sometimes we have to sacrifice comfort for looks. I’m wearing a pair of Tory Burch slides in gold.

Something you might have learned about me is that I like to have fun. A sense of humor is so important in all aspects of life. Hence, my attraction to the Designers parody of pop culture and sports wear. My first was a grey Homies sweatshirt with gold foil given to me by my mom. I have an almost unhealthy adoration for Hermes, and it could not have been more perfect. The sweatshirt is designed by Brian Litchtenberg an LA based designer who gets creative with the logos of many iconic fashion labels. His designs are very popular and worn by the likes of Rhianna and Cara Delevigne. Other brand’s have followed “Brianel’s” (his own personal spoof mocking Chanel) lead in playing the Name Game. This parody apparel can be found in a variety of styles and prices with Lichtenberg’s design at the top. The tops can be paired with almost any bottom. Pants, skirts, shorts, you name it. You will look great and most certainly garner a smile or two from passers-by! In life, we should NEVER take ourselves too seriously and always have fun!
Because I spend much of my summer at the ocean, my summer style is often inspired by the seaside location. Summer style by the sea often incorporates headwear to shield the sun, crisp white cotton and bright-colored or flowing pieces. Today’s ensemble begins with a raffia handcrafted sun hat with a canvas ribbon that ties in a bow at the back. It isn’t too large, but just enough to shield the sun. The simple drawstring waisted dress with details such as baby pleats, a V neck and self colored embroidery down the front is light as a feather. The dress comes with a sheath style slip in the same fabric to be worn underneath. It is made by Pomegranate Resort and sells at a very reasonable price point. I accessorized with a simple leather and silver cord bracelet while carrying a pea green shoulder bag with pink accent trim. A large 3 dimensional flower adorns the flap opening which closes with a silver buckle, by Noelle. I chose to wear my nude Tory Burch thong sandals, keeping things simple.
As people are gearing up across the nation for our country’s big day, many are focused on how many hot dogs they will need and what kind of sides to provide. Not me! I am thinking about the many options in my closet that I might wear on Friday to show my patriotism in a festive, but not over the top way. It would have been easy to pull out my white jeans or shorts and pair them with a traditional navy and white striped top. This always looks fabulous and anyone of any age can pull it off. As I was going through the racks in my closet, though, I came upon my ivory silk blouse with navy blue stars. This I knew was going to be the focus of my – Happy Birthday, America- outfit. Not wanting to wear the obvious white on the bottom option, I continued looking and chose a smart pair of very dark wash moto pants in denim. These jeans are more like dress pants, as they have a hidden closure, no belt loops and are not your typical five pocket jeans. They have a bit of an edgy look with the reinforced knees that resemble those pants worn by motocross riders. The pants fit like a song and are a nice alternative to traditional style denim. Not wanting to leave out the red in red, white and blue, I added my red flats, which are a comfortable and sensible choice for a long day of being on your feet at picnics and parties. I popped on a fun, blue, geometric lucite bracelet and the look is simple and ready. Have a happy and safe 4th of July everyone!

The inspiration for today’s post is a favorite designer of mine from across the pond, Burberry. Burberry plaid is iconic and can be seen used in many ways. It can be seen as a simple lining of a hooded garment, a contrasting pocket on a t-shirt or it can be used as an overall pattern as in a traditional kilt or even a cape. No matter how it is used, it is always classic and simple. Today I chose to wear such a classic women’s white blouse adorned with the Burberry trim peeking out from the lined placket, it is also used as a detail along the seam of the placket in a small welting down the front. I wear this shirt with so many things, but today I paired it with an easy but detailed pair of khaki linen shorts. They are cuffed shorts in a longer length with a pleated waistband. They close with four covered buttons. All of these details, make them more of a dressy short. I’m wearing vintage purple and gold earrings and a statement ring to keep the clean look. I chose to carry a limited edition Burberry bag and am wearing Valentino flats. I like this look because it is tailored, dressy and clean-looking. To Burberry I say, “Well done, you!”

Just out the front door OF The Ritz Carlton, South Beach there is a small boutique packed with pieces ranging in style from South Beach sexy to preppy Northeast. You just don’t know what you’ll find from rack to rack. I found and fell in love with this backless beauty by Karma. Although I had no special occasion on the calendar, I just knew I needed to have this go to dress. It just has so much going for it. Of particular note is the crinkly polyester fabric. It is a traveler’s dream. The neutral color is rich and gives an added touch of elegance, which when coupled with the delicate lace bodice and backless features, you have a dress that is so versatile and so special. The dress gives a slight nod to the high/low hem trend, but not so much so that it will be out of date when the trend is. The high is ever so slight so that the shoes peek from the hem line in front and the back has the slightest puddle of fabric, just brilliant. The shoe I favored with this dress is a simple nude patent leather wedge with peep toe by Steve Madden. The Wicker clutch with brass seashell detail was found in a floral shop at the Jersey Shore. I wore a pair of gold, ivory and crystal chandelier earrings and a gold upper arm bracelet tattoo. My hair was done in a side fishtail so that the bodice and back of the dress could fully be appreciated. To say I love this dress is an understatement. It is so comfortable and you can’t help but feel good in it. This will definitely be in my suitcase when I pack for Cabo later this summer!
